Blog #5

Right now I am reading The Test and its about this girl named Liselle who is 20 years old.  She gets this call from her old principle Mr.Spencer to tell her story to a group of female teenagers about her pregnancy story.  Liselle used to go to the same school as these same girls went to.  Liselle went into the library were she would meet with the group of students to tell them everything.. but it seemed that some of the girls in there had to respect for Liselle but none of them new anything about her because no one knew why they were in the library in the first place.  As Liselle started trying to talk there were girls talking over here or trying to make comments.  Talking about this topic wasn't easy for Liselle it made her recall all of her memories and how hard it was for her trying to move past it.

No one understands the things she's been through until they've experience it for them selfs. "What ever. I don't care what she has to say. How long we gotta be here?" Tarmara said not paying any attention to the fact Liselle was trying to get to the point of what she had to say.  A lot of the girls in the library didn't care about what Liselle had to say they've already heard the "pregnancy talk." a lot of times.. its just this wasn't just any talk this was someones personal experience and it meant something she agreed to share it with immature teenage females.  "Girl would you stop," snapped Nyeema. "The kid aint a doll." "What do you know?" " More then you!  You ever change a diaper or clean spit-up?" all Tarmara and Nyeema kept doing was arguing, at least Nyeema cared about what Liselle had to say.   Liselle carried on with her story she remembers being in the bathroom up stairs on the fourth floor of her school and 4:00pm after school she put a trash can in the way of the door and went into the last stall to take the pregnancy test. . . the test took 5 minutes for the results as she got them it said positive.  Liselle kept looking over and over again at the directions she couldn't process anything right.  A senior named Kendra went into the bathroom and was asking if she was alright or if she needed any help, Liselle was getting frustrated at the fact Kendra kept asking.  Liselle didn't know what to do because she thought that even though she didn't know Kendra that well she looked like the type of girl Liselle could trust.  Liselle changed her mind and told her "Keep your mouth shut." to Kendra she didn't want anyone to know why she was in the bathroom at four o'clock if everyone had already left.  Liselle got home and the last couple of days she's been trying to stall the hole pregnancy problem and attempting to do things that would help get her mind off it.   Lisellss mom works a lot of hours and barely gets to spend time with her children because of that her mom mad dinner and it was the one day her mom had off that week Liselle wasn't hungry but went to the table anyway all Liselle kept thinking about what the test and how her mom would react to the new..but now she's trying to figure out if the test was maybe wrong since she keeps doubting it.

Would We Be Killed?

American Indians were marginalized over time by tricking parents so they were able to take there children to school in the East so they can be raised differently by taking away there cultures. Captain Henry Pratt wanted to get rid of the Indians so when he got the children to the school in the East he would strip them of there traditions by attempting to turn them into "Americans" and to have them leave there indian-ness I know this because in the article it states "Pratt's plan to simply educate these children and teach them English. He also planned to "civilize" them to strip them of their traditions and ways of life. Pratt believed that the children needed to completely abandon their "Indian-ness" in order to succeed in America."

Shanice wrote this essay to inform people that when someone says they are "Native American" the first thing that usually comes to peoples minds are tepees,moccasins and headdress. But she doesn't want people to be stereotype and think that because she is just like any other normal teenager, but she still does things to keep her culture alive like bringing deer jerky to her dorm room or hunting fish by poking them with a metal prong as they swim by.

Chris Brown #4

Chris Brown was born in Tappahannock, Virginia.  But as he was growing up when he was just seven years old his parents got divorced and his mother sonly remarried then moved to a trailer park where they would be able to start a family.  As Chris was growing unfortunately his step father was abusive to his mother, Chris would be so scared to leave his room at some points because he was so afraid of seeing his own mother getting hit.  Chris's mother would try to hide her injuries form Chris.  When Chris was eleven he was trying to imitate Usher singing his song "My Way," and his mother asked him "You can sing?" and he said "Well, yeah, Mama." In 2002 he was discover by a music producer but turned downed that offer to sign with Jive Records then got nominated for two grammy awards.  In 2007 Chris Brown dropped his second album, Exclusive.  Sonly in 2008 Chris was nominated for best singing on the Kids Choice Awards.   Chris Brown offered to help Justin Bieber adjust to being famous at such a young age since he knew it could get a little tuff.  After Chris Brown pled guilty for beating his ex girl friend Rihanna it brought his fame down low.  In June 2009 he was suppose to preform for BET because they had this television tribute to Michael Jackson but then just when he was about to preform he couldn't because his act got canceled because Sponsors complained he didn't deserve it due to his criminal past.  Chris appeared on the Good Morning America to promote his new album, F.A.M.E. but between the show Robin Roberts asked about his relationship with Rihanna and Chris got mad and walked into the dressing room so anger that he broke the window and yelled at the producer and security, then later apologized for his temper.  As Chris struggled trying to get his career on track he did earn some success.  In June 2010 he was welcomed back to the BET and was finally able to tribute to Michael Jackson,  Chris fell to his knees and started crying on stage because Michael Jackson was his inspiration he looked up to him and they were so close Michael helped Chris get inspired into dancing.  Critics later said Chris was laying and that it was all an act on stage to get sympathy.

Matter Of Trust #3

Right now in this book Darcy is trying to talk to Brisana about becoming friends again because she thinks its stupid that she wouldn't give Tarah and Cooper a chance and get to know them better again instead of not liking them anymore because at one point they were all really close but now they that Brisana doesn't like them they all started to not like her.

Darcy was talking to Brisana trying to get her to give Cooper and Tarah another chance. Darcy had a memory moment by telling Brisana "I haven't had one of these since. . . you know." Because they use to always get sundaes but not anymore since Brisana doesn't like Darcys friends since she's always with Tarah and Cooper but Darcy was telling Brisana that she should give them a chance like she did because she might just decide to think they are really good people instead of not liking them anymore.

A Matter Of Trust #2

Right now I'm reading the book "A Matter Of Trust." and it has a lot of drama in it like theres this boy named Hakeem and he has this problem with stuttering a lot when he talks and he can't control it and he randomly starts talking to this girl Brisana and when they start talking she starts getting rides from him on his motorcycle but that all just starts happening after Darcy starts talking to Tarah and Cooper which Brisana doesn't like either of them and Brisana was once really close with Darcy but no so much anymore because of that. Darcy is a really good friend to Hakeem like she told him to try out for the talent show because he can sing and play guitar and he doesn't stutter when he sings so she told him that he should since she thinks that he is good at it Hakeem started to sing this song around Darcy and then she was surprised so she asked him "Did you write that?" and he said that he did. After she told Hakeem that he should try out for the talent show he really didn't want to because he thought he would make a fool out of him self since he stutters.. but since Darcy is such a good friend she told Hakeem "I will if you will," then Hakeem told her with a smile on his face "Okay. Deal. Maybe we'll both make such fools of ourselves we'll have to run away to a deserters island and hide."

The conflict to this story is Darcy likes Hakeem but because Darcy and Brisana are not friends anymore Brisana is starting to try to get close to Hakeem to take him from Darcy since she knows it would bother Darcy. The only reason Brisana doesn't talk to Darcy anymore is because she started talking Tarah and Cooper again, Darcy doesn't mean to start anything with Brisana but she confronts her about her talking to Hakeem she tells her "I know you're being fake with Hakeem," but Darcy really was she had told Brisana "Besides if all of a sudden you can find solo much in common with losers like Tarah and Cooper, surely I can change my mind about Hakeem. Which reminds me, Ive got to run. Hakeem's waiting for me in class." she just said that to get Darcy jealous because she knows that she already is. Darcy tried to block Brisana as she walked away and then Brisana fell against a row of lockers and scraped her knee and started bleeding "Look what you did!" Brisana yells "I didn't do anything! Can I help it if you're so clumsy trying to walk on those stupid mile high heels." but after everything Darcy was so mad that she started shaking in English class she couldn't believe the fact that she had almost got in a fight with Brisana over Hakeem. 

Invisible Woman

Sometimes I feel invisible when I try to explain family something and they don't pay attention as if what I'm trying to say means nothing..I haven't been able to over come this because sometimes it just passes through so fast and I just change the subject because I feel like there no point on continuing to stay stuck on the fact they don't listen. I just move forward and pretend that it wasn't a big deal to me. The fact that my family doesn't really listen as much shapes me it tells me that I just need to stop trying to explain my self to people that have no intentions of listening .

Tolerance

Tolerance = The Ability Or Willing To Allow The Existence, Occurrence Or Practice Of Something, In Particular The Existence Of Opions Or Behaviors That One Does Not Necessarily Agree With.

I think I can be more tolerant by excepting things I don't always agree with and trying to get less angry when people say the wrong thing. Theres nothing wrong with liking other things.
